Admission Requirements for International Students
Below are the general requirements for all countries unless not specified otherwise. Please check our country-specific requirements first to see if your country has specific requirements.
Transcripts
Secondary/high school transcripts
-
Freshman applicants can generally be reviewed and admitted based on unofficial transcripts. Secondary school graduates must provide final documents and any external exams. Applicants who are still completing secondary school may apply with transcripts showing their progress to date.
University transcripts
-
Transfer applicants must provide official transcripts from all universities attended for review. For most applicants, this means sending original or certified paper copies in the mail. Emailed transcripts can be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Any document not in English must be accompanied by a literal, word-for-word English translation.
WVU reserves the right to require official or additional documents as needed for a complete and fair review.
Proof of English Proficiency
Proof of English proficiency is required. Please visit our English proficiency page to learn how to complete this requirement.
Minimum admission requirements
WVU will convert your results into a U.S. grade-point average (GPA) on a 4.0 maximum scale.
Freshman requirements
Applicants with a converted GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale can be admitted. If an external exam is required, your GPA will be based on that exam rather than local or internal school results. If you were admitted based on in progress results, your final GPA will be updated when you provide the final required documents. Some majors have higher GPA requirements for direct entry.
Transfer requirements
Applicants with a converted GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale can be admitted. WVU will calculate a combined GPA if you attended multiple institutions. If you were admitted based on in progress results, your final GPA will be updated when you provide the final required documents. Some majors have higher GPA requirements and course requirements for direct entry.
