Paying for College

Dream first and worry about tuition last. We offer a quality education at a great price, and aid programs that make our price tag even better.

Scholarships

Hard work pays off. Literally. In 2020-2021, the WVU System awarded nearly $130 million in scholarships. Our scholarships are usually given in addition to the West Virginia Promise Scholarship, which many West Virginia students also qualify for. And the best part about scholarships? You never have to pay them back.

  • Freshman Scholarships — It's easy to apply for our merit-based scholarships. Just submit your admissions application, test scores and transcript to get started. We offer scholarships to both West Virginia residents and out-of-state students.
  • College and Department Scholarships — Additional scholarships are available for students in certain majors.
  • Transfer Scholarships — Scholarships are available for incoming transfer students with 12-78 transferable credit hours.
  • International Scholarships — We welcome scholars from around the world.
