Marching band played a huge role in Ryan’s high school life in Centreville, VA. But he had no idea the Mountaineer Marching Band would define his life at WVU.

The civil engineering major has played sold-out stadiums. Traveled all over the country. Mastered the art of time management. And made lifelong friends:

“I am passionate about drumming and music, but I’m more passionate about the WVU drumline. The friendships bring me back.”
He even sees similarities between marching band and engineering. He says learning a new piece of music is a lot like understanding a new engineering concept. Both make more sense when you see them in action or in the laboratory.
