Immunization Requirements

Fall 2008

To ensure the health and safety of our campus, immunization against communicable diseases is extremely important. Vaccination against Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) is required of all  transfer students, while the following vaccinations are required of all first-time freshmen beginning with Fall 2008.

  • Meningococcal vaccine
  • Polio series
  • Tetanus-Diptheria-Pertussis (DTaP, Tdap, DT and Td)
  • Hepatitis B series

Documentation of these immunizations must be submitted to the Office of Admissions and Records prior to enrollment in the Fall 2008 semester.

The following immunizations are also recommended prior to enrollment at WVU:

  • Varicella vaccine or history of chicken pox
  • Tuberculosis skin test, if applicable
  • HEPATITIS A vaccine
  • Annual Influenza vaccines
  • Pneumovax, if indicated
  • HPV series – Gardasil (for females)
  • Most students enrolled in a health care major will be required to have the Pertussis vaccination

Spring 2008

Immunization requirements for undergraduate students enrolling for the first time in the spring of 2008 are:
