Mountaineer Visitation Days

Mountaineer Visitation Days (MVD) are for interested students and their families to visit. As our guest for the day, you and your family will tour the campus and meet faculty and staff to learn about admission requirements, courses of study, the cost of attendance, financial aid, scholarships, housing, student organizations, and other important information. Optional activities are offered at the end of the day to enhance your visit. You may ride the Personal Rapid Transit (PRT), attend a class, or shop in the WVU Bookstore. Lunch will be provided in one of our dining facilities for a "true taste" of University life.

While you may attend any of the Mountaineer Visitation Days, certain dates have been designed with an emphasis on specific majors. These days include an additional presentation by department representatives and are listed below.

Mountaineer Visitation Days are scheduled throughout the fall and spring semesters. They fill quickly, so register early! Available dates are listed below:

Reservations

Spaces for Mountaineer Visitation Days are limited and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Please make your reservations at least four weeks in advance. To guarantee your attendance at a Mountaineer Visitation Day, we charge a nominal fee of $10 per student and $5 per guest. Fees are nonrefundable but can be transferred to another Visitation Day.

To register for this event, download the registration form (PDF) and return your information by mail or fax. The form requires Adobe Acrobat Reader, a free program you can download if it's not already installed on your computer. You may also register by phone at 304-293-2264.

About Your Visit

Approximately two weeks prior to your scheduled visit, we will send you confirmation information that includes a tentative schedule, directions to campus, and a list of area lodging. In the meantime, here are some basic details:

Please arrive at the Blue Gate of the WVU Coliseum between 8:15 - 9:15 a.m. WVU staff members will greet you and direct you to shuttle buses. Transportation will be provided throughout the day.

Please wear comfortable shoes and dress according to the weather, as you'll be doing some walking and MVDs are a rain or shine event! In the event of severe inclement weather, please call 304-293-2264 for cancellation information, or visit www.wvu.edu for cancellation information. The MVD will only be canceled if WVU is closed.

If you are a high school senior who meets our minimum admission requirements and would like to have your application evaluated, please bring a completed Undergraduate Admission Application, your official high school transcript in a sealed envelope, a copy of your ACT or SAT scores, immunization record, and the application fee.

Formal activities wrap up in the afternoon around 2:30 p.m.

All Mountaineer Visitation Days are similar in format, so it is not necessary to attend more than one session. Don’t worry if you cannot attend a particular session; we will be glad to answer your questions at any of the sessions.

If the dates for Mountaineer Visitation Day do not fit your schedule, check for additional campus tours through the WVU Visitors Resource Center.
