WVU students receive over $317 million in grants, loans, work study, fee waivers, and scholarships. Awards are based on financial need and academic ability. About 70 percent of WVU students receive some financial aid; almost half of the aid given to resident undergraduates is as grants and scholarships.
Applying for Financial Aid
To apply for financial aid, you need to submit your admissions application to WVU and file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with the federal processing center before the March 1 absolute deadline.
Electronic submission is the recommended method. The FAFSA is available on the Web after January 1. Our school code is 003827.
If you prefer to submit the FAFSA through paper application, you need to request a FAFSA from US Department of Education by contacting Federal Student Aid Programs at 1-800-4FED-AID. Allow 2 weeks for receipt.
FAFSA Need-Based Deadlines
Priority Deadline - February 15 if mailing a paper FAFSA.
Regular Deadline - March 1 for students interested in Perkins Loans, Federal Work Study, and the
Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant. Other criteria is involved.
No Deadline for Pell Grant or Student Loans
