SAT and ACT Tests
WVU requires all students applying for undergraduate admission to submit scores from either the ACT or SAT. WVU does not require students to take the optional written component of the ACT examination.
The only undergraduate applicants not required to submit ACT or SAT scores are international students and those who graduated from high school five or more years before their intended college entry date.
How do I sign up?
Students can sign up for the ACT and SAT online or ask their high school guidance counselor for registration materials.

Test Day Reminders
Arrive prepared! Here are some tips for the day of the test:
- Eat breakfast and bring snacks to eat during your breaks.
- Arrive early at the testing center.
- Make sure you have your admission ticket and acceptable photo identification.
- Bring plenty of No. 2 pencils (at least two) and erasers. Pens and mechanical pencils aren’t allowed.
- Bring a calculator with fresh batteries. Check the ACT and SAT Web sites to make sure your model of calculator is allowed.
Fee Waivers
Both ACT and SAT tests offer fee waivers to students who cannot afford to pay the test fees. Both testing services require that requests for fee waivers be made through high school guidance counselors using the official ACT or SAT fee waiver request forms.
Students must obtain fee waiver information through their high school guidance counselors.
