Additional Documents Required for an Undergraduate Admissions Decision

The lists below will help you determine what supporting materials you must submit before WVU can make an admissions decision. You must submit these materials in addition to the WVU undergraduate admissions application.

All transcripts, test scores, and other required documentation should be mailed to:

Please note: When requesting your application status online, the e-mail you receive may list missing items in addition to those listed below, such as immunization records or (for high school students) final high school transcripts. These must be submitted before you enroll at WVU, but they are not required for an admissions decision. If you are missing only these additional items, then your application is currently under review.


Required Documents

High school students
  • your official current high school transcript*
  • your official ACT or SAT scores

*You must submit your current high school transcript before an admissions decision can be rendered. After you graduate, your final high school transcript should be sent to WVU before you enroll.

Home schooled students and students from non-accredited high schools
  • your official ACT or SAT scores
  • a typed manuscript or description of your class background that bears the signature of the person who administered the curriculum (see our guidelines for home schooled applicants for more information)
  • GED score, if applying for scholarships
Transfer students with fewer than 29 transferable credit hours
  • your official high school transcript (ask high school to mark transcript For Transfer Admission)
  • your official ACT or SAT scores
  • your official transcripts from all higher education institutions you have attended
Transfer students with 29 or more transferable credit hours
  • your official transcripts from all higher education institutions you have attended
International students
  • results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing Service (IELTS), sent to WVU directly from the Educational Testing Service
  • original or certified copies of all official academic records in original language of issue (transcripts from U.S. institutions must be sent to WVU directly from the institutions); unofficial photocopies are not acceptable
  • original or certified copies of all academic certificates or diplomas in original language of issue
  • official English translations of academic records and certificates/ diplomas
GED students
  • GED scores (average score of 45 or above required for application consideration)
  • your official high school transcript from the high school you last attended
  • your official SAT/ACT test scores, if you would have graduated less than five years before your admission request
High school students seeking early admission
  • your official current high school transcript
  • your official ACT or SAT scores
  • a letter from your principal or guidance counselor supporting your application
  • a letter from your parents or guardian supporting your application
Non-degree undergraduate students
  • your official high school transcript
  • your official college transcripts, if you have attended another higher education institution
Nontraditional students
  • your official high school transcript showing date of graduation or your GED along with an official high school transcript for years attended
  • your official ACT or SAT scores, if you graduated from high school within the past five years; those who graduated from high school more than five years ago do not need to submit test scores
  • your immunization record, if born after 1957
Students seeking a second undergraduate degree
  • your official transcripts from all higher education institutions previously attended
