Honors College

If you are curious about the world and excited by challenges, consider applying for the WVU Honors College.

With the mission of offering enriched educational opportunities for the University’s most gifted, promising, and motivated undergraduate students, the Honors College combines an intimate scholarly community with the vast opportunities of a major research university. WVU students relax on the steps leading to Stalnaker Hall

The Honors experience includes:

  • Smaller Honors courses that offer personal attention.
  • A living and learning community in Stalnaker Hall, which includes two-bedroom suites and study areas.
  • A faculty advisor to guide your progress.
  • Priority registration for classes.

Students may choose from one of two tracks in the Honors College: The Professional Scholar track provides an enhanced experience in a professional curriculum, while the 21st Century Scholar offers integrated studies courses and a third-year research methods class.

All Honors students are required to complete a final-year thesis as part of the "capstone experience." The paper is part of the mandatory 24 credit hours of designated Honors courses, which also count toward the University's general education requirements.

Regardless of your major, the Honors College will dare you to surpass your academic goals and set you on the road to a successful future.
